Terminal – Book Review

Title: Terminal

Author: Kathy Reichs

Length: 402 pages

Release Date: 26 March 2015

Description: Tory Brennan and her pack have a new member – Chance Claybourne, but he’s different, he infected himself with a different version of the virus and now he’s stronger and better than them, and his eyes glow red and not gold.

But Chance didn’t only infect himself he infected his ex-lab tech Will Speckman. And now there’s another pack sharing the same land and The Trinity want Tory and her friends gone, for good.

But there’s one more thing to worry about Covert government agents and hunting them all down, wanting to lock them up and test all their powers, get into the mind of a Viral.

Can Tory and her pack trust Chance? Can they defeat The Trinity? Can they escape from the government agents? Or will they be played, pushed out of their home and locked up?

My Thoughts: I have read every single Virals book, even the short ebook ones and every single book gets you wanting more and when I found out Terminal was coming out I was so excited! Unfortunately it’s only been fairly recently that I’ve had the opportunity to read it.

Anyway, it was amazing! I couldn’t put it down, every page made you desperate to read the next! It was so compelling and because it had multiple story-lines going on at the same time you could never predict what was going to happen and there was never a dull moment.

I think Kathy Reichs’ Virals books are pure genius they are so good! Obviously credit to Brendan Reichs as well.

The Virals series is one of my favorite series of books ever and I always think once I finish one of them that Kathy and Brendan have out done themselves, that they couldn’t write a better book than this and I always think it’s sad because when the next one comes out it won’t be as good as the previous one and it always, always is! Kathy and Brendan have a way of keeping the main story-line going as well as all the books having their own little story-line within.

Usually in books I hate the whole love triangle thing but in Terminal the love triangle between Tory, Ben and Chance really worked. It was really great! And instead of thinking how ridiculous it was I found myself praying that she would end up with the guy I wanted her to end up with – Chance.

The characterization is really good and I feel like I know them, I feel like they’re my friends. And they’ve got such big personalities and it’s impossible not to love them and have a favorite. My favorite character is Chance Claybourne, I think he’s a really great character. He’s got so much story and history in the books but this is the first time he’s properly in it as a character and I’m so glad he was because I’ve been hoping that he will become a more main character ever since the series started and when it did happen I was so pleased! I think he’s an open book at the same time as not being an open book, you think you know loads about him but then there is always that one thing that you find out that you didn’t know before.

The book had an absolutely great ending! It was really satisfying and the book had been so great so far and so much had happened and then it ended, but I felt like it was the ending, ending like the story had come to a conclusion and there isn’t going to be anymore books and I became really worried because there has to be another one! It can’t be over! They’re so good! Someone please tell me there’s going to be another! Although, I really, really do think Kathy and Brendan have out done themselves, I just can’t imagine a way in which anyone could write a book that could top Terminal!

I totally want someone to make a TV series of these books and if they do I want them to hire me to be in it, it would be so amazing! And even if I wasn’t in it, it would be like my favorite show of all time, I would be sat there waiting for the first episode to air like two hours before it was supposed to air. I really hope it gets turned into a TV series or films. I’ve already got every season of Bones sat on my shelve so why not add Kathy Reichs other books to it?

It was one of the best books I’ve read in my entire life! I suggest, if you haven’t read the series, you go and buy the first book in the series (Virals) or reserve it at the library right now! Don’t even finish reading this review, I don’t even care just read the series because you won’t regret it! It will be one of the best decisions you’ve made in your whole life! (Although I’m not giving you a decision I’m telling you to go and buy/reserve the series!)

7/5 stars!

Made For You – Book Review

Title: Made For You

Author: Melissa Marr

Length: 356 pages

Genre: YA Fiction, Thriller, Mystery,

Publisher: Harper Collins

Release Date: 2014

Description: Eva Tilling is your normal high school student, until she gets hit by a car. She wakes up in Hospital and the police inform her they’re not sure what happened was an accident. Eva can’t imagine who in the small town of Jessup would want to hurt her, but soon the driver starts killing off Eva’s friends and leaving messages for her in their skin. Eva soon discovers that after her accident when she touches people she see’s visions of their deaths. Can Eva discover who the murderer is with her new found power?

My Thoughts: I recently went into the library to return some books and I felt so good about myself because I was returning some books (And I have loads!) but of course you can never go into the library without getting more books out, I decided to go for some YA Fiction books and got out about ten. Made For You was the first one I read.

When I started reading it I thought it was quite good but as it went on I didn’t really feel that attached to anything that was going on in the story. I didn’t feel like we knew enough about the characters and I didn’t really care about them, and I wish I did because obviously they were being murdered but even when Eva got sad I didn’t, I didn’t feel like emotion was written into the story very well.

It wasn’t like a normal thriller either because you found out who the murderer was before the end of the book and then the story kind of stopped being interesting because the whole point of thrillers is you don’t know who’s doing the killing and you don’t know who they’re going to kill next but once you did it was kind of like ‘Okay, the story kind of needs to end now.’ but it didn’t.

I felt like the book needed to be longer because it wasn’t long enough to A) make you care about the characters and B) properly get the story going.

I thought Eva’s power was what was going to make this more unique than other YA Thrillers but it didn’t because the power was never explained and there wasn’t enough detail about the power and it was kind of a pointless aspect that could have worked but it didn’t.

It was good for just a casual read and it might be your sort of thing it just wasn’t mine. I think it was a unique story, that had an idea I’d never read before and it had the potential to be much better than it was.

2 and a half stars/5
